Vincent D'Onofrio Un-fan Club

Some friends of mine and I were having a discussion about the television show, Law & Order, which by all accounts is a fine piece of drama. The original series and "SVU" are both quite good (in spite of Ice T), however, we all expressed a certain amount of discomfort with "Criminal Intent," largely due to the casting of Vincent D'Onofrio as Detective Robert Goren. We find him annoying, condescending, a know-it-all, and honestly a little creepy. Make that a lot creepy. When he makes eye contact with the camera, it really appears as though he is just staring through you, plotting the many ways he could kill you without anyone knowing it. And apparently, he had to take time off from the show due to "exhaustion." Honestly, Vince... turn down the intensity a couple of notches and you wouldn't have these problems.

Vincent D'Onofrio Posted by Hello

Having taken our stand on this issue, my friends Meri, Cyanne and I would like to invite you to join our letter-writing campaign to get Vincent D'Onofrio fired from Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Address your correspondence to Jeff Zucker, President NBC Universal Television Group.

It's not that often I find a cause I can get behind. I think this one is worth the effort. This has been a public service announcement from the Vincent D'Onofrio Un-fan Club.

I'm surprised that you haven't received more comments on this subject. I recently finished watching L&O CI. and was awash with a fresh feeling of absolute loathing for Goren the DICK. I'm not a violent person but just hearing his voice makes me want to gouge my eyes out with my favorite chop-sticks.. and I LOVE my chop-sticks. Finally, to voice what (I think) is on everyone's mind. WTF is up with that guy's neck? Between him and Horatio's (CSI:Miami) weird enunciation and love affair with his sunglasses, I'm almost, maybe, thinking of cutting my cable. Ugh!

I know this is an old post...but I'm going to comment anyway.

Hey Dickface - Vinnie D'Onofrio IS LOCI, the show was basically built around the character he plays, and he does an good job playing that freeky, weird, intense guy. They picked the right actor for that job. If you don't like it, change the channel.

Go invest in some LOSVU on DVD so you can watch the ensemble while Vinnie's on.

Oh, I see now...you're one of those pretentious education/god snobs. Figures.

I can't take anything you write seriously - you're a BNL fan! I suppose you like Dave Matthews too!

YES I HATE THIS GOREN GUY!!!

I can't even watch the show when he is on. I root for him to be shot every time I see the show on so that he can be killed off and replaced with a new detective. SVU is wonderful and even LOCI with Jeff Golbum is good. D'Onofrio is repulsive to watch and if he appeared at my door I would suspect he was coming to rape my little sister and masturbate in my Thanksgiving turkey.

Sorry to be so late adding my two cents, but I was googling to find anyone who can't stand this guy as much as me. Thank you. I needed a catharsis to help me vent. He is such a narcissistic cardboard cutout of a type. Horrible.

I hate when he turns his to the side like a chicken. I can not stand the show because of it

He is far and away the most annoying character ever on television..the way he like almost stutters and just has run on sentences and starts taking ad then stops abruptly and akwardly while wildly over-gesticulating, makes me want to kill him with my bare hands..he is an absolute creep. So smug and condescending, his air of superiority and immensely over inflated ego make CI unbearable.. and the fact that he seems to think he is some misunderstood oppressed genius just really tops off the whole disaster of a show..

This thread is probably long gone, but here goes! My husband and I really liked CI during first 3 seasons when Goren was a nerdy, engaging prodigy and there was hope for further development of his character. unfortunately we then had: excessive involvement with manipulative mom, the way overdone trapped in prison deal, weight gain, sullenness, bizarre rage, and worst of all, descent into a thrift store wardrobe. (Is this even the same guy?) Was this reflective of D'Onfrio's difficulty with doing the series?? Do not know, and, to their credit, cannot find any costars willing to dish the dirt for us.

The character he plays in that show is clearly autistic or developmentally disabled in some way. This comments page is old, I hope by now you're in prison or otherwise separated from society so you can never meet and upset a neurodivergent person
